Livingston Parish Assessor Jeff Taylor presents Livingston Parish Schools Assistant Superintendent Joe Murphy with a donation from Assess the Need to underwrite a significant portion of the cost of creating the STEAM Express, a mobile classroom that will bring learning in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics to students across the parish. School leaders plan to use the mobile classroom to bring learning to students — into impoverished communities, to fairs and festivals, to special events and to campuses across the parish. Also pictured, from left to right, are school board members John Cox, Karen Wax-Schmitt, Jan Benton, Bo Graham and Buddy Mincey, Jr. Assess the Need is a non-profit, volunteer organization that provides school supplies for students in Livingston Parish, giving them the educational tools they need to succeed.
